The northern savannah is the main game-drive area, with giraffes, elephants, buffaloes, Jackson’s hartebeests, oribi, and predators among the species our private guides track.
Wildlife movement varies with season and water availability. Morning and late-afternoon game drives capitalize on the cooler hours when lions and leopards are most active on the Buligi circuit.
Boat safari on the Nile
The boat trip toward the base of Murchison Falls is one of the park’s defining experiences. Massive pods of hippos, Nile crocodiles basking on sandbanks, and elephant herds coming down to bathe line the riverbanks.
The boat safari and game drives show different sides of the same wilderness. If time is tight, never sacrifice one just to rush to another park.
The top of the falls & stay length
The falls are worth experiencing from the edge as well as from the water. The top-of-falls viewpoint reveals the immense hydrostatic compression as the 50-meter-wide river is squeezed through a cleft just 7 meters wide before plunging 43 meters below.
Three nights is the ideal foundation for a first visit. It ensures full game drives, a river boat safari, a delta birding cruise, and falls viewpoints without turning every day into a rush.

Rafting, hiking, community visits, game drives, boat safaris, rhino tracking and gorilla trekking all sit within one continuous route. The trade-off is distance. There is substantial road travel, so this itinerary suits travellers who value broad geographic coverage and changing landscapes more than a slow stay in two or three parks. The Tepeth and Karamojong visits add cultural context, while the wildlife sections move from Kidepo's dry savannah to western Uganda's forests and gorilla habitat.
